"Jazz at the Chimes" Contest Winners

Congratulations to the Thomas family — Natalie, Rachel and Ashley — winners of our "Jazz at the Chimes" contest, May 18, 2008.

When I contacted the family to share the good news, I discovered a wonderful story. Mom Natalie said, "In April, I became a mom to Rachel and Ashley. So, this will be my first attempt at trying to strike the proper balance in creating a memorable summer holiday for us all." The girls, who had previously been in foster care, are two of the most courteous, affectionate children I've had the pleasure of getting to know. Natalie's compassion for these beautiful girls is soul-stirring.

On June 25, we met at Zeum in San Francisco, where we laughed, talked, sang and danced the afternoon away. As a keepsake, the family received a one-of-a-kind, personalized, autographed photo album to commemorate our time together. And I received the gift of three new friends.
